We wrote this song originally to protest against the sorrowful reality of live exportation of calves destined for the veal market.

Soon after they are born, veal calves are often housed in tiny stalls, chained at the neck so they can’t turn around or even move freely and fed a liquid diet for approximately four months, they are then led to slaughter, their legs have not grown any muscle, you can only imagine the pain and fear these babies suffer when they take their first wobbly steps, to death...

Since the song was written many years ago, there is lots more information available about the cruel dairy industry and the suffering of dairy cows and their calves, google Scary Dairy to find out more.

'Song of the motherless calf'

I'm going away, and I'm going nowhere
I'm so afraid and I want my mother
I feel these hands, they push and shove me
I know I'm damned and no one loves me...

Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me today?
Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me away?

I'm full of fear, I'm only little way down here
You push me through and I'm just so scared, so scared of you
I'm just alive, this world is big and new to me
But I want to hide, beneath the soft one, where is she?

Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me today?
Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me away?

I have no room, it's been a long time left alone
The end is soon, where did I go, what did I do?
I want to move, I want to walk without this chain
I'm in a tomb, I think of her just one more time...

Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me today?
Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me away?
Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me today?
Where am I going, going, where am I going?
Where are you taking me away?
