'Little Mac'
Rest in Peace

Lelja, the guardian of Little Mac's memorial page at The Rainbow Bridge website, asked us to write a song to remember this beautiful young golden retriever pup who suffered so terribly in his short life.

One of the hardest things to do is to read about the horror of animal cruelty. It never gets any easier and I can't find the words to write about what was done to Little Mac.

If you wish to find out more please sign the petition below and if you feel strong enough you can read the heartrending story on the links below.

Little Mac was a year old. He wasn't given the chance to grow up.

*Little Mac*

Little Mac, Lelja wrote and told me what was done to you
I cried so much, you went to hell and back
Wish there was something I could do
Little Mac, there's hurting in my heart that never goes away
I feel for you, wish we could bring you back
Why is this life so cruel?

The world goes on but sometimes little ones like you get left behind
And oh the pain is hard to bear
We take it in our hearts each time
And all pain lingers there...

Little Mac, your memory will forever be a shining light
You lived the worst, so we will fight this fight
Little Mac, you couldn't tell a soul how long you lived in fear
A tragedy, we won't forget you dear

The world goes on but sometimes little ones like you get left behind
And oh the pain it's hard to bear
We take it to our hearts each time
And all pain lingers there...

Little Mac, you're with the angels
Sweet boy running through the sky with rainbows in your eyes
And nothing now can harm you, no evil hands can hurt you
You're with loving friends that need you till the end of time

The world goes on but sometimes little ones like you get left behind
And oh the pain is hard to bear
We take it to our hearts each time
And all pain lingers there...
The world goes on but sometimes little ones like you get left behind
And oh the pain is hard to bear
We take it to our hearts each time
And all pain lingers there...

'Little Mac remains my greatest pain and my forever love. I really care for this golden boy as if he was mine.
Your invaluable contribution to his memory has made him even more loved, people are visiting him all the time, sending me sympathy cards and personal mails, expressing their sorrow and love.'

For friends of animals, reading the horror of what happened to this innocent one year old family dog is painful and upsetting. Some people cannot read the details, others close their eyes and think that if they don't read it it's not happening. But animal cruelty is happening everywhere every day. Animal abuse happens all over the world and in every country. We must be the eyes and ears of the defenceless, we must try to pass on compassion to those that don't seem to have any. We must try to educate children and teach them to be kind to animals and to understand that animals are our friends and they deserve to be treated with respect and care at all times. If we do not teach the younger generation how to care then we have failed them and they in turn will fail the animals. Please sign petitions against cruelty and speak up for the voiceless. Help to make everyone that you know aware of animal abuse and by example show that it is important to do all you can to stop it. We cannot turn away from the suffering of sentient beings. If you see abuse to animals report it to your local animal welfare/protection group. The family dog is often the first animal to receive a beating in a dysfunctional violent household. Animal abuse leads to abuse of human beings, this is fact. So always speak up and try to do your best for them. We must make sure little Mac did not die in vain. Please help those that are not able to help themselves and be a voice for animals. Their suffering is our suffering.

This is an issue that needs to be taken more seriously by the police/social services/lawyers and judges, so that stronger laws are brought in to prevent these tragic stories - look behind the scenes and know by wiping out animal cruelty you are then saving human victims too because anger and aggression is not 'breed' specific, those with this illness lash out at whatever and whomever is in front of them! For Mac and the many others, may they finally find justice and Rest In Peace! -
